Jyoti's basic philosophy is to promote technological self-reliance and develop products appropriate to tropical conditions. A number of products have been developed at Jyoti R&D Centre through application oriented market  Research & Development.

Use   of   state-of-the-art   'Information Technology' with software like CAD/CAE and Pro/ENGINEER.

Technical Information Centre
This centre provides facilities like back-volumes as well as  current technical literature and periodicals, to caters the needs of R&D Engineers / Scientists.

Technology Transfer
Besides developing its own technology through in-house R&D efforts, Jyoti has also gone for overseas technology from time to time, in order to meet changing market needs.  However, every effort is made to fully absorb the imported technology through  indigenous R&D in design, materials and processes to meet the needs of the  local environment.  Presently, we have the following technical collaborations in operation : 
M/s. Toshiba Corporation, Japan, in the field of medium voltage switchgear for  the distribution  sector.  
M/s. Jeumont Industries, France, in the  field of steam/gas turbine/driven cylindrical rotor alternator, 
range: 5MVA (6.6kV-11kV) UPTO 11.3 MVA (6.6kV-11kV) Syn. Speed:1500RPM
Application: For steam turbines in co-generation plant.
In the area of hydro-turbines,  we have entered into MOU  with Turbo Institute  of Slovania, for purchase of critical turbine sub-assemblies as well as technology on a  case-to-case basis. In some cases, Jyoti has also transferred its technology to other companies.  Jyoti has transferred its switchgear technology to M/s. Jyoti Sohar Switchgear LLC, which is  a joint venture company at Oman.

Designed, Engineered, Manu-factured and tested Largest rating Vertical Motor of rating : 2250 kW (3000hp) 6600 Volts, 595 r.p.m. (10-Pole), Vertical - Mounting with Closed-Air-Circuit-Air-Cooled (C.A.C.A.) for Lift - Irrigation Schemes. Latest design techniques were used to achieve enery efficient design combined with low-noise and vibration levels and optimizes material content and process time. Improvement in assembly, tolerances and clearances were achieved through latest state-of-the-art software like Pro/Engineer. The product has achieved success as "FIRST-TIME-PASS" with "ZERO DEFECT".

Design and Development of Compact class H/H brush-less Industrial Alternators up-to 750kVA/415Volts/4 Pole for diesel engine prime-movers.

INCREASED SAFETY:  Type ”e” certification from External agency for lower rating medium voltage motors [20 H.P./2 Pole/415Volts].

Design , Development, Manu-facturing and Testing of  Fan less Vertical Double Cage Motors for Pump application (MIDC-14 Nos.)

Design and Development of water-Jacket cooled 70kW/6Pole/ 200Volts/2-400Hz motors for Hybrid Electric Vehicle [for the project of ERDC & I, Ashok Leyland Ltd and Ministry of Information Technology - Delhi].

Design, Development and Approval form RDSD, of Auxiliary Motors for new Railway WAG 9 [Motors VMT, VRH, MCP, M/c Room Blower, Oil cooler Blower, Scavenger Blower, To-Pump, Co-Pump].

Design and Execution of large rating 6 MW/ 8 Pole/ 11kV Horizontal Hydel Generator for Shimsha Hydel Project [Drawings created on Pro/Engg.].

Design, Development, Manu-facturing and Testing of 400 mm Thrust and Journal tilting Pad Bearing for Hydel Application.

Micro-processor based AVR for standard alternators upto 1000kVA.

Execution of one number 7MW/4P/11KV Water-cooled cylindrical Rotor Alternators against order, based on Jeumont Collaboration.
